Visiting Public Television

Today we visited Public Television. The Public Television was founded on 1 July 1998. As the name suggests, Public television is a TV platform created for the benefit of the public. Unlike many other similar TV channels, Public Television's intention was to create a TV channel dedicated to educational content. For example, one of their programs 'Peopo' is a news show that broadcasts motivational stories of everyday people who made small yet inspiring contributions to society. One of the stories they documented was an ordinary pilot who sacrificed all his saved money to help stray dogs.

Public Television allows the public to submit anyone's motivational stories to be broadcasted on 'Peopo'. However, due to Public Television's strict quality control, only a small proportion of the stories filmed by the public made it into 'Peopo'. The corporation is aware that no viewers care about a random person getting married or someone who tripped over and fell into the gutter. Public Television refrains from streaming News content irrelevant to the public.

The images shown on left was their film studio. The studio's lighting assets are fully automatic, readily controlled via remoter. It takes around 2 days of lighting, furniture preparation before a show is ready for the camera.

This is Public Television's television production control room. This is where all their shows broadcast from 24/7 non-stop. The control room is a dustless environment. All workers must wear special shoes to be allowed entrance. Currently, all shows support HD quality. Upgrading to HD puts added stress to all casts and lighting technicians because HD broadcasts cast faces in more detail. All makeup and lighting preparation are required of a higher standard therefore.

This is Public Television's assets storage area. Assets currently actively used in a show are placed on a large trolley. Unused assets are stored on the side ready to be used on the next show. All assets have a Qr code scannable by a scanner which directs to its date and show information.
